Knowledge Transfer Explained

Pam was a second year auditor. Her firm sent her to an audit training seminar that she loved. The instructor was interesting, the pace of the class was perfect, and the material seemed really useful – that is, until she got back to work. Back at work, she realized she couldn’t use a lot of the tips and efficiency techniques she had learned in training, because her firm did things a different way. Pam also thought some major parts of her audits had been left out of the training, not realizing that they were simply called by different names. Her manager couldn’t see any change in Pam’s performance and concluded that the training was not worthwhile.

Pam’s trouble was in the very important training phase called Knowledge Transfer. She was ill-equipped to apply her classroom learning in the real world. Differences in terminology, tools and techniques prevented her from using the skills she learned.

But your team can avoid Pam’s problem by choosing McGladrey’s Audit Levels programs. As an AdvanceCPA firm, you already use the same forms, templates and audit methodology as McGladrey. Our classes also provide electronic course materials and job aids that participants can take back to work. With practice exercises and real-world examples, we prepare them to use their new skills on the job.
