It is one of the few applications that offer a server managed solution whereby data can be unencrypted even when the pass-phrase is unavailable or forgotten. PGP Whole Disk Encryption (WDE) locks down the entire contents of a laptop, desktop, external drive or USB flash drive, including boot sectors, system and swap files. Other than the one-time encryption process, the application is technically transparent to the user, securely protecting their data.
 
PGP supports multiple user workstations, so more than one account can have access to the hard disk drive, with different authentications. When purchasing the WDE, you’ll also receive the PGP Shredder application. This tool securely deletes data and eliminates all traces from the hard disk.
